Carrabba’s restaurant construction to wrap up in August

Progress continues to be made at Avenue Forsyth location

CUMMING, Ga. – Construction is well underway at the site of the newest location of Carrabba’s Italian Grill at the Avenue Forsyth in Cumming.

“We’ve been interested in coming to this area for a long time,” said Cathie Koch, vice president of corporate communications for Bloomin’ Brands. “[The Avenue Forsyth] creates a synergistic environment for us with shopping and dining.”

Slated to be completed toward the end of August, the 1.5-acre project will house the restaurant, landscaping and a parking lot for its patrons.

Carrabba’s was approved for its liquor license on July 5.

In addition to adding one more eating option to the area, the new restaurant will also bring a number of jobs.

About 85 people have already been hired and it’s possible that more will be added before training starts next month.

A large sign that reads, “Now Hiring!” continues to be prominently displayed in front of the construction site.

The company is looking to hire hosts, servers, bartenders, cooks and dishwashers on a full and part-time basis.

When plans were first submitted, Carrabba’s fell under the umbrella of OSI Restaurant Partners, but the chain is now owned and operated by Bloomin’ Brands.

This company is also responsible for restaurants such as Bonefish Grill and Outback Steakhouse.

Until this location opens, Forsyth residents would have to travel to areas like Duluth, Atlanta or Kennesaw for a taste of Carrabba’s Italian cuisine.

“We’re very excited to be here,” Koch said. “With the development and the number of people moving in – we can’t wait to get started.”
