Barber, Paulk power Milton Eagles over Woodstock 42, 14 in season finale

Pair combine for 370 yards, 5 TDs



MILTON, Ga. – Milton closed out the regular season with a resounding victory, rolling over Woodstock 42-14 last Friday to finish in a second-place tie in Region 5-AAAAAA with Walton.

The Eagles (5-2 in the region, 7-3 overall) will be the region’s third seed in the playoffs behind Walton, which defeated the Eagles two weeks earlier.

Milton got big games from its rushing tandem of Peyton Barber and Treyvon Paulk who combined for 370 yards and five touchdowns rushing. Both carried 19 times, with Barber gaining 218 yards and Paulk 152.

Barber scored the first two touchdowns on runs of 8 and 27 yards. A 14-yard pass from A.J. Bush to Eric Abbott made it 21-0 early in the second period and the route was on. Bush was 11 of 16 passing for 135 yards.

Paulk scored on a 12-yard run to close out the first-half scoring. The TD was set up by the first of two Milton interceptions by Chase Polkow and Tyler Blaine.

Milton led 42-7 after three periods, scoring on a 45-yard run by Paulk and a 60-yarder by Barber. The final Milton score was set up by the Eagles’ defense.

Woodstock completed just three of 21 passes for 31 yards, with both its touchdowns coming on long runs in the second half. The Wolverines tied for fourth in the region, with Wheeler getting the region’s fourth playoff seed.
