Appen Media Group welcomes summer interns

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Appen Media Group has welcomed three interns who are passionate about community journalism.

Kathleen Sturgeon of the University of West Georgia, Jessa Pease of Auburn University and Shauyan Saki of the University of Georgia have joined the editorial team for some hands-on community newspaper experience.

“We have selected a really sharp team of college students this year,” said Aldo Nahed, managing editor. “We want them to be well-rounded by the end of their stint here, so you’ll see a lot of their work in print and online.”

Sturgeon graduates next year and is studying mass communications with a concentration in convergence journalism. Pease brings copyediting, photojournalism and newspaper experience working at the Auburn Plainsman. She will also graduate next year with a major in journalism.

Saki is a rising junior with a major in broadcast journalism and a minor in communications.

“I’m excited to learn all aspects of news,” Saki said.
