ALPHARETTA, Ga. — North Point Mall in Alpharetta was evacuated May 10 after someone called 911 and made a bomb threat.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s bomb squad was called in to scan the mall, 1000 North Point Circle in Alpharetta.
According to police, at 9:30 a.m. May 10, a caller contacted 911 and said a bomb had been placed inside the mall. At 10:30 a.m., the same person called 911 back and asked if the mall was cleared and then hung up.
Alpharetta police have requested the assistance of the GBI and the its bomb squad who arrived about 11:20 a.m.
George Gordon, the spokesman for Alpharetta Police, said there’s a "heightened awareness" due to recent events and the police take all such threats seriously.
All of the mall is cordoned off and no can get near it as traffic is being rerouted.
