Alpharetta man killed by falling tree



ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A contractor was hit April 26 by a falling tree limb he was cutting down. He died of his wounds at North Fulton Hospital.

According to a report by the Alpharetta Public Safety Department, Misael Soriano Elorza, 41, of Doraville, was working as part of a crew removing trees on Preston Ridge Road, near the YMCA building. As the tree was falling, a limb hit Elorza in the head, causing him to fall into a nearby creek. His safety helmet was cracked by the impact.

Paramedics arrived and transported him to North Fulton Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Elorza was wearing all required protective gear during the work. He worked for Downey Trees in Cumming.
