Alpharetta Police catch 2 with stolen safe

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Two young men unsuccessfully tried to rob a local business July 14, leading to a chase with police and them fleeing on foot before their arrest.

Police arrived at the Bagel Boys Café on Kimball Bridge Road about 4:30 a.m. after an alarm went off suggesting broken glass. As an officer was nearing the location, they reported seeing a dark vehicle speeding away from the area. The officer pursued and the vehicle allegedly increased its speed. It turned into the Park Glenn neighborhood on Webb Bridge Road, a dead-end road. When the vehicle hit the end of the road, both the driver and passenger got out and ran away.

Inside the vehicle were a crowbar and a safe, which was taken from the Bagel Boys.

Tyler James Brady, 30, of Mount Rushmore Drive, Alpharetta, and Michael Franklyn Smith, 29, of Valais Court, Johns Creek, were both arrested and charged with burglary, felony theft by taking and criminal damage to property.
