Alpharetta Cyclones win Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Nationals



ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The Alpharetta Cyclones 14U baseball team, which has players from Milton and Johns Creek, won the USSSA Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Nationals Tournament at Turner Field on Monday, July 9.

The Cyclones began their title run in bracket play by defeating the Gulf Coast Gurus from Mississippi 7-5. The Cyclones then played the East Cobb Misfits and won 3-2, thus earning the right to play in the championship game.

Utilizing their entire roster, the Cyclones held the Kennesaw baseball team scoreless to claim the title 4-0. Winning at Turner Field against a very good Kennesaw team was a wonderful opportunity for all of the players, coaches and families.

The Cyclones are led by manager Glenn Rosen and coaches Eddie Curry, Manny Saavedra, Paul Janofsky, Dave Houston, Dave Cheeks and Eric Reale. The players are: Carter Borgerson, Eric Cizek, Steven Curry, Ross Funke, Elliot Houston, Will Janofsky, Max Jewell, Robert Larmore, Jack Leckemby, Braden Little, Shane Rosen, Josh Saavedra, Will Toner, Jonathan Tracey (absent), Justin Wheless and Coleman Williams.
