ALPHARETTA, Ga. – For one weekend only, ACT1 Theater presents “Simply Complicated,” a lively trilogy of one-act plays on Oct. 4, 5 and 6. Two comedies and one drama demonstrate just how complicated life can get.
“Heaven Only Knows” stars David Short as a messenger of the Devil, who is sent to destroy the world. However, when he gets to earth, he encounters a girl who has ideas and problems of her own. The audience discovers that the girl has been sent by ... you know who.
“A Thousand Dollars” is a dramatic tale by famed writer O Henry. Set in the early 1900s when $1,000 would be worth $27,500 in today’s currency, Bob Gillian is a carefree young man who must spend $1,000 in 24 hours to order to comply with his late uncle’s will.
In “Oh, What a Tangled Web,” Juliet is missing, Mom is in tears and Dad is confused. Teenager Jan needs to make up a good story that will convince Boss Quigley that big sis Chris needs the day off. Mr. Quigley yells. Flustered, Jan comes up with a humdinger of a lie. Hilarious complications multiply.
“Simply Complicated” is presented on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. Saturday, Oct. 5 is a dinner show at 6 p.m. followed by “Simply Complicated” at 7:30 p.m. Dinner show tickets are $20. Oct. 6 offers a lunch and matinee option.
