CUMMING, Ga. — At a state recognition of high achieving students, State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge honored the achievements of three South Forsyth High School marketing students. Amanda Guglielmo, Liam Shannon and Brian Mesa were acknowledged for their winning performances at the 2014 international DECA competition.
The state superintendent’s recognition event was held on Aug. 5 at the Georgia Department of Education.
Out of 200,000 Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) members in Georgia at many different schools, South Forsyth High School was one of only two schools to be invited with international DECA winners. Parkview High School was also invited.
“This is an incredible opportunity to reflect on how far our students have come and the tremendous hope they have for the future,” said Seth Hutchinson, South Forsyth High School marketing teacher. “It is very inspiring to watch students leverage their academic preparation to become community oriented and professionally responsible through DECA.”
