2 locals start for Valdosta State title team

Grable, Wheeler key defense

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Roswell and Milton were represented on Valdosta State’s Division II national championship team, with both North Fulton high schools having starters on defense.

Milton’s Jeremy Grable started at linebacker for Valdosta State, and played a key role in several of the team’s playoff victories.

Grable, who has played three seasons for the Blazers, had a huge game in Valdosta State’s semifinal victory at Minnesota State and forced a fumble on the Blazers’ goal line in their 35-7 victory over Winston-Salem State in the title game.

Roswell’s Dominique Wheeler, also a third-year player, started at cornerback and had an interception in the championship game. Wheeler was a key defensive starter on Roswell’s 2006 state championship team.

Also on the Valdosta State roster is backup offensive lineman Jack Bradley from Blessed Trinity.
