CUMMING, Ga. — A woman heard a burglar break into her home, and shot her gun after attempting to make contact, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s incident report.

A woman in the 5000 block of Surrey Court, off Canton Highway near Sawnee Mountain Park, told deputies her daughter heard glass break and thought someone was trying to break in the home at about 12:30 a.m. Oct. 17.

The daughter told her mother about the noise, and then locked herself and her boyfriend in her room.

The mother grabbed her gun and went to investigate.

She said she made her way to the first floor, and the intruder slammed an interior door in her face.

She attempted to make contact with the intruder and fired one round from her gun that entered the wall.

The intruder fled, unharmed, on foot out the back door.

A neighbor told deputies she saw a man in his 20s run through her yard, jump into a Dodge Ram pickup truck and take off.

Later, witnesses on nearby Ruby Road in northwest Forsyth described a truck matching the description of the truck the neighbor spotted.
