FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Forsyth County Fire Department partnered in pre-incident safety training with Siemens Industry, located in Alpharetta just off of Ga. 400.

Siemens and facilities partner CB Richard Ellis contacted the fire department to organize these trainings as part of their continuous improvement activities.

“Siemens strives to provide the safest environment for employees and the community,” said Wayne Hancock, safety manager at Siemens’ Ga. 400 plant. “We want our local emergency responders to be acclimated with our facility so they can respond as quickly as possible and without hesitation if an emergency occurs.”

Training consisted of about 100 firefighters from all fire stations in the county participating in nine sessions during a three-day time frame.

The sessions provided general communication on building layout, location of electrical and gas connections and the definition of areas that present higher levels of risk to local firefighters that would likely respond in an emergency event.

“This was the first time we collaborated with a private entity to this extent,” said Capt. Brian Wilson of Forsyth County Fire Department. “A training of this nature enables us to respond to emergencies faster making both civilians and firefighters safer.”
