CUMMING, Ga. — On Saturday, April 13, Central Park held its second annual opening day ceremony for the baseball and softball season in the park, 2300 Keith Bridge Rd.

Greg Blitz, the Central Park Athletic Association booster club president, said he was happy with the turnout.

“There’s about double the amount this year than there was last year,” Blitz said.

The free event featured food, drinks and entertainment for everyone. In addition, there was live music, a bouncing castle and face painting for the young attendees.

Providing entertainment at the event was Kevin Scott, who coaches the Diamondbacks and Old Blue Bulldogs.

He played live music with his band Goldrush, which he started 15 years ago with his father.

“Since I was part of the park and the coaching staff I was asked to play and I was completely up for it, I just wish there hadn’t been so much pollen today.”

The baseball and softball games were kicked off by State Rep. Mark Hamilton and Forsyth County Chairman Pete Amos.

“We’re trying to celebrate the opening of our baseball and softball seasons, but also with our raffles and everything going on, we’re trying to raise money for the Central Park Athletic Association,” Blitz said. “I just hope for this to get bigger and bigger every single year.”
