Forsyth man brings pot to courthouse – goes to jail

February 15, 2013

CUMMING, Ga. —A 48-year-old man walked into the courthouse to pay a fine, but left handcuffed with several misdemeanor drug charges against him.

Michael John Forcey, 48, of Cumming, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, a felony offense, three counts of possession of drug-related item or narcotic equipment, one count of possession of marijuana and one count of prescriptions/dangerous drugs not in original container, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s incident report.

At 9:45 a.m. Jan. 30, Forcey arrived at the courthouse to pay a citation. The deputy working at the security checkpoint asked Forcey to empty his pockets into the container used for X-raying personal property.

According to the report, Forcey emptied his pockets without hesitation.

In addition to a lighter, wallet and phone, Forcey pulled out a piece of aluminum foil rolled up to use as a pipe, the deputy said.

“Are you serious?” the deputy asked Forcey, who appeared clueless at the situation.

The report said the pipe also smelled like marijuana. Forcey also produced two cigarette packs — one containing marijuana and another one containing unidentified pills.

Forcey was arrested and transported to the Forsyth County Detention Center.
