Healthy for the Body, Mind and Spirit

Self-defense comes in many forms. The first thought that usually comes to mind is defending oneself from a physical attack. However, there are other meanings. Another aspect to self-defense means to defense against health issues like staying healthy and physically fit. Also having a healthy mental attitude and being positive is extremely important. These ideals are what make up the foundation of traditional Taekwondo. It can be difficult to remain physically fit and have a positive attitude with many of the pressures and issues we deal with today. This can be especially true of children in today’s society. It is very important to give our children the tools and drive to create and maintain a healthy lifestyle and attitude. These are the principles taught at Chung’s Taekwondo Academy. Traditional Taekwondo is built on the principles of Integrity, respect, self-control, and perseverance.

Of course, not all martial arts schools are the same, so choosing the right school is important. The student must be comfortable with the school, the instructors, and the curriculum. Chung’s Taekwondo offers different programs for our students. They have the Tiny Tiger program for children 4 to 7 as well as basic and black belt programs. The school in Milton is one of three schools owned and run by Grand Master Chung. Two other schools have been running in the Miami Florida area for over twenty years.

Grand Master Chung is a 9th degree black belt who has been teaching for over forty years. He has taught in many countries and was national team coach for Korea and Peru. The Grand Master is a certified international referee and was an official for the Olympics. He has also taught military and anti-terrorism teams in Korea and Peru. Also at the Milton school is Master Dohyun Park, a fifth degree black belt and international champion from Korea, and Brett Snyder, a fourth degree black belt with over 20 years experience in taekwondo.
