September 24, 2012 CUMMING, Ga. — Crowds, food, fun and entertainment are all in store for the 18th year of the Cumming Country Fair and Festival Oct. 4 though Oct. 14.
Preparations are wrapping up at the annual Cumming Country Fair, 235 Castleberry Road at the Cumming Fairgrounds in downtown.
"This is a place where you can see people you haven't seen all year," Cumming Mayor H. Ford Gravitt said.
Cumming Fairgrounds Administrator Dave Horton said there will something for everyone from daily attractions, concerts and fair favorites.
Gloriana and local singer Chris Cauley will hold a concert Oct. 5; Kentucky Headhunters and Confederate Railroad play Oct. 9 and the Charlie Daniels Band, which had to cancel their concert at the Cumming Country Fair last year after one of its band members died in a car crash, will take the stage Oct. 11.
There will also be bull riding performances Oct. 13.
Daily performances include a horse act and a BMX stunt show.
"They are a pretty good group of stunt riders," Horton said. "It's a great show they put on."
An alligator show, a Native-American Cherokee village and chainsaw carving shows will be set up. A petting zoo will allow visitors to interact with bison, zebra, cows, rabbits and goats.
Several days have free admission or free ride specials.
"We've got a lot of specials," Horton said. "With the economy the way it is, we tried to put enough days there where families that are struggling can still come."
