Age: 97
Charles M. Ceraso (Chuck) passed into Heaven on Wednesday morning, April 3, 2014. Beloved husband of Margherita (Sicilia) Ceraso, who preceded him in death at the age of 97, he is also preceded in death by three sisters: Carolina Sicilia, Leticia Buccieri and Louise Luisi. He is survived by two sisters: Emma Raschiatore and Edevigie Calizzi.

Chuck has a very loving family. His two sons are Frank of Apollo, Pennsylvania and David of Cumming, Georgia; David’s wife, Lucy; three grandchildren: Angela Driggers and husband Clark, Katie Reed and husband, Jonathan, and Charlie Ceraso and wife Amy. Also, five great-grandchildren: Bailey and Mac Driggers and Sicilia, Lucy and Rynn Reed.

Chuck was born on February 4, 1913 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1931 and began his working life at age 14 and eventually worked over 44 years for U.S. Steel. Chuck and Margherita married in 1940 and made their home in Vandergrift and Apollo, Pennsylvania.

Upon retiring in 1971, Chuck and Margherita began spending winters in Florida and stopping to visit grandchildren in Georgia.

They moved to Cumming, Georgia in 2005 to be the near the children and great-grandchildren. They enjoyed many family celebrations, picnics, boat rides, ballet recitals, baseball and soccer games. They also enjoyed many visits by neighbors and church friends.

Chuck will always be remembered for his quick and sometimes dry wit, his can-do attitude and his ability to solve all sorts of problems. His encouraging words to many will long be remembered. Chuck’s humor and friendly spirit will endure in the hearts of his family and many friends.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Tuesday, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Chuck’s memory be made to The Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 485, Cumming, GA 30028.
