Sidney Eugene “Gene” Johnson, age 79 of Cumming, GA, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Gene was a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and watching the birds and animals in the yard. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Duncan and Francis (Mama) Johnson; brothers and sister, Robert Johnson, Roy Amos Johnson and Evelyn Mitchell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Cora Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jason Mooney; grandson, Dakota Mooney; sister, Virginia Fortner; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margie and Carl Albertson, Geneva Crumbly, Glynda and Glenn Haynes, Shirley and Horace Sams; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Maudie Wimpey Jr., Frank and Betty Crane; long time friends, Tony Payne and Glenda Nicholson along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5th at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Brody Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. and Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
