CUMMING, Ga. — A man was going around knocking on doors and asking for help, according to a Cumming Police incident report.

At about 4:40 a.m. Feb. 11, a man in the 200 block of Mary Alice Park Road told officers he hid his children in the basement because a man kept loudly knocking on doors and windows.

He said the man sounded distressed, so he called 911.

When officers arrived, they searched the area around the home and did not find anyone.

The man walked officers to the front door, and they found a hat on the ground that did not belong to the man. There was also an overturned plant.

Officers looked into the adjacent bush and saw the suspect hiding.

Officers ordered the suspect to come out.

The suspect said his friend lived at the home, and he was cold and trying to get out of the rain. Officers asked why he did not come out earlier when they were searching for him, and the suspect said he was scared.

Jackie Hutchinson, 29, was charged with loitering and prowling, and taken to Cumming Police Department for processing.
