CUMMING, Ga. — The second annual Cupcake Road Race offers all runners and walkers cupcakes when they cross the finish line.

The race takes place on Saturday, March 1 at Totally Running, 405 Peachtree Parkway, Suite 105 in Cumming.

Racers are given the choice of a gourmet cupcake or a gluten-free, vegan cupcake upon registration for the event.

Alpharetta bakeries Once Upon a Cupcake and Mama Makes Safe Cakes will provide the cupcakes for the race.

Once Upon a Cupcake will indulge the sweet-toothed with gourmet cupcakes, while Mama Makes Safe Cakes will provide cupcakes free of gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, soy, tree nuts, fish and shellfish for the health conscious runner.

All proceeds from the Cupcake Road Race benefit The Place of Forsyth, a nonprofit social service organization serving Forsyth County families in difficult times with emergency basic needs.

Last year, the Cupcake Road Race raised $14,000.

Participants in the race can choose either the 15K or 5K distance, and will run on a USA Track and Field-certified course and receive a chip time.

All runners will receive a cupcake, T-shirt and goody bag.

There will also be a Baby Cake Run for children under 10 years old on a closed half-mile course. Baby Cake Run participants all receive a medal and cupcake. T-shirts will also be available for $10. Parents are welcome to run alongside their children.
