NORTH FULTON, Ga. Fourth-grade students took a trip back in history to celebrate Colonial Day at Dolvin Elementary School. The day was filled with many hands-on activities. Instead of playing video games or researching schoolwork online, colonial children filled their days with simpler games and pursuits.

Snapshots and cameras hadn't been invented yet, so Dolvin students learned to make silhouettes of themselves. Others worked to create candles, quilts, bonnets and tri-corner hats.

Taking a break from all of that work, the fourth-graders played colonial games like jacks and marbles and even created their own dolls. Colonial Day gave Dolvin's students a true glimpse into the lives of colonial children.
