CUMMING, Ga. — The Pinecrest Academy campus ministry department has launched "IGNITE," a program of Christian service designed to help high school students develop servant leadership potential through projects focused on corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

IGNITE's purpose is to inspire students with a concern for the needs of those around them and the desire to spread the gospel message through acts of service.

This year, Pinecrest has 18 IGNITE senior projects, including a mission trip to Nicaragua, a mentoring program and soccer tournament for underprivileged children.

During a recent high school assembly, seniors took the stage to present their IGNITE projects to other high school students, promoting their causes with posters, PowerPoint presentations and music. At the conclusion of the presentation, all high school students selected which service projects they'd like to assist with the seniors.
