Registration for basketball academy through Aug. 30

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County Parks and Recreation invites athletes ages 5-12 to register for the Fall Basketball Academy.

Classes are open to players participating for the first time as well as players returning from the 2013 Spring Academy, the 2012 Fall Academy and the 2012 Spring Academy.

Instruction will emphasize improving fundamental basketball skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, defense and more.

Classes will be held from Sept. 8 to Oct. 27 at the recreation centers at Central Park, 2300 Keith Bridge Road, and Old Atlanta Park, 810 Nichols Road in Suwanee.

The cost is $125 for Forsyth County residents.

Registration for the Fall Basketball Academy is underway and will continue through Aug. 30. Registrations are being taken at the county's three recreation centers, located at Central Park, Fowler Park, 4110 Carolene Way in Cumming, and Old Atlanta Park from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Registration is also being accepted via fax, mail and online at www.forsythco.com/parks.

The Fall Basketball Academy is part of the three-year program combing the Spring and Fall Basketball Academies with the county's Winter Competitive League in an effort to offer youth athletes the chance to discover their talents on the court.
