May 31, 2013

CUMMING, Ga. — Someone stole about $5,000 in copper wire from a vacant house, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report.

The property owner of a home in the 7000 block of Thrasher Trail told deputies May 15 he went to the property to do lawn maintenance because no one currently occupies the home.

He said he noticed the front door was open and when he went inside, the sheet rock on the first floor had been smashed and copper wiring was removed from the walls. In the kitchen, the cabinets had been removed and placed into the hallway.

Deputies saw shoe prints on the wall where suspects tried to kick holes in it. Someone also wrote, "Give Me Death" on the walls.

The property owner said he was last there April 17 and there was no damage at the time.
