Earth Day contest winners announced
Local nonprofit winds up events with celebration

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – Reaping Nature concluded its Earth Day events by announcing contest winners on May 1 at Alessio's in Cumming. The local nonprofit has held this annual contest since 2011 to encourage environmental exploration and education.

Many of this year's contest winners were from Whitlow Elementary, and received prizes donated by Reaping Nature, Sawnee Woman's Club and Keep Forsyth County Beautiful. This year's winners were:

Ages 8 and under:

•First place – Carolyn Forrester

•Second place – Ena LaKic

•Third place – Ashley Track

Ages 9 to 12:

•First place – Yuna Lee

•Second place – Noah Wetz

•Third place – Elizabeth Carrizo

"Our contests are a way for kids to investigate issues impacting us all, be creative and win some cool prizes," said Denise Carleton, Reaping Nature's executive director.
