MILTON, Ga. Birmingham Falls Elementary's third-grade Girl Scout Brownie Troop 12485 collected new pencils during the April School Spirit Day. The Brownies selected the Pencil Project, www.thepencilproject.com, as their service project.

Pencil Project matches fundraising groups with schools in the U.S. and abroad that are in need of simple school supplies. The Brownies were matched with a school in rural Tennessee where over 94 percent of the students are economically disadvantaged. Brownie Troop 12485 collected nearly 2,400 pencils for the project.
