JOHNS CREEK, Ga. Learn how a backhoe or a dump truck works from the professionals who operate them at Johns Creek's annual Touch-a-Truck event, part of the city's Public Works Day, Saturday, May 18.

Presented by the Johns Creek Public Works staff, the event gives children of all ages the chance to get an up-close look at heavy-duty equipment like concrete trucks, or stand in the bucket of a 100-foot ladder fire truck.

This equipment is used to construct the many projects happening around Johns Creek, including intersection improvements on Jones Bridge, miles of sidewalk in different parts of the city and playground renovations at parks.

Touch-a-Truck and Public Works Day feature games and activities, such as obstacle courses, dump truck races, face painting and more. Free food is available while it lasts. Prizes and giveaways will also be on-hand.
