NORTH FULTON, Ga. Nearly 1,000 people visited the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell for the 11th annual Earth Day Kids Fest on Saturday, April 13.

The five-hour event at the nature center included about 25 interactive booths, exhibits and environmental activities.

Children enjoyed activities such as playing basketball and football at the booths set up by the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Falcons. They also had the opportunity to present a weather report in front of a weather wall, create their own salads at the Whole Foods station and buy handmade crafts at the eco-village.

There was plenty of dancing to an upbeat performance by Laughing Pizza and winding down with a canoe ride down Beaver Pond.

"The message we are trying to convey with this event is how important it is to take care of Mother Nature," said Ann Bergstrom, executive direction at the CNC.
