Concord Fire girls win one tournament, fall short of second tourney win

ALPHARETTA, Ga. The Concord Fire North White U9 girls' soccer team took first place in the UFA Fall Classic tournament held Nov. 17 and 18. After a hard-fought overtime win in the semifinal, the girls won the final game by a score of 3-1.

In the GSA Adidas Cup tournament held Dec. 1 and 2, the team went into overtime in the final game. The score was still tied at 1-1 after the overtime, and the game went to penalty kick status. After several shots into the goal by team members and a super effort on the part of the Concord Fire team goalie, the girls lost in the very end by one goal shot.
