All these animals want for Christmas is a forever home

by CAROLYN ASPENSON

December 11, 2012

Rocky is an owner turn-in. He’s a mixed breed and was born on April 7, 2012. He has been at the shelter for some time. Rocky is up to date on his shots and neutered. He’s also housebroken and micro-chipped. Rocky did not pull on the leash and enjoyed being outside. He is high energy, but listened well and calmed easily. Rocky is a big softie. He likes belly rubs and sits when asked. Rocky has some training and would be a great fit for a home with kids who want loyal friend by their side. Rocky’s wish is a family that will love him and take him for walks everyday so he can get his smelling fix.
Sarge is a big sweetie. He’s a Boxer mix, adult male, neutered and up to date on his shots. Sarge is strong. He’s not leash trained, but has had some training because he sat when told to sit, at least some of the time. Sarge came in as a stray so there’s not much information about him, but he’s ready for his forever home. Sarge likes to walk and explore. He has a sweet face and likes to give kisses. Sarge is high energy and will need room to run and space to play. Sarge is a newer resident of the shelter and has an $85 adoption fee. He’s not micro-chipped but will be when adopted. Sarge’s wish is a forever home with kids who will run with him and play outside, and maybe wipe up a little drool every once in a while. Not much drool, just a little.
Carolina is an owner turn-in. She’s an adult female, is up to date on her shots and spayed. Caroline is medium haired and fluffy. She’s sweet and calm and just a little nervous at first, but gets comfortable quickly. This cat loved her treats and will eat them right out of your hand. Carolina’s wish is for a patient family to love her and make her feel secure.
Jarrett is an owner turn-in. He is an adult male, medium to longhaired cat, is up to date on his shots and is neutered. Jarrett owns his own space. He’s calm and curious and not intimidated by people. He’s a handsome boy and walks proud. Jarrett smelled everything he could find and picked up a few treats spread on the floor. He is a very sweet boy. Jarrett would be the alpha in a house with dogs. Jarrett’s wish is a forever home where everyone knows he’s king.
Mouse is an owner turn-in. She’s a medium to longhaired domestic cat, is up to date on her shots and spayed. Mouse is young, and is a little apprehensive to be touched, but give her a treat and she’s more apt to be pet. Mouse is inquisitive and likes to explore her surroundings. She is playful and loves string. Mouse has energy and spunk and her wish is a forever home with a family to play with her.
CUMMING, Ga. — Humans aren't the only ones who have a Christmas wish.

If the Forsyth County Animal Shelter animals' wishes came true, they'd be spending the holiday in their new forever homes.

What child hasn't, at least once, asked for a cat or dog from Santa?

Sure, many ask for a pony, but right now the shelter doesn't have any ponies, so Santa is offering up dogs and cats, and a lot of them are free.

About 30 dogs and 25 cats currently share space at the shelter. All dogs in residence for more than six months, and cats over 6 months old are free to good homes.

Adoption fees for other cats and dogs are $85.

The shelter makes sure each animal is ready for adoption, including a full physical by a veterinarian, being up to date on shots and micro-chipped upon adoption.

Most pets are spayed or neutered too.
