FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Pleasant Grove Baptist Church held their inaugural car show Oct. 13. Proceeds from the event will go to the congregation's annual ski trip, said Leshia Martin, the church's youth leader and event organizer.

Each year, about 50 members of the church, 9730 Waldrip Road in Gainesville, take a ski trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., Martin said.

To bring people to the show and help raise money for the trip, the church displayed six cars including a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix and a 1990 Mustang that used to be a police cruiser and later a race car before it became a show car, said owner Larry Waters.

Also on display were a 1987 El Camino, a 2004 Mustang Mach 1 and a rare 1934 Ford Cabriolet.

The event did not have a huge turnout, but Martin said she wants to host the car show every year and hopes to draw more car enthusiasts.
