Each year, about 50 members of the church, 9730 Waldrip Road in Gainesville, take a ski trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., Martin said. To bring people to the show and help raise money for the trip, the church displayed six cars including a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix and a 1990 Mustang that used to be a police cruiser and later a race car before it became a show car, said owner Larry Waters. Also on display were a 1987 El Camino, a 2004 Mustang Mach 1 and a rare 1934 Ford Cabriolet. The event did not have a huge turnout, but Martin said she wants to host the car show every year and hopes to draw more car enthusiasts. |
