Wills Park
April 08, 2014 | 06:54 PM

Poor Ex-Horse Dad has obviously had a bad experience in the horse world as have many of us. But having spent 25 years participating in the local horse community, both myself and my daughter, I have found that many, if not most, riders, trainers (and show managers!) are pretty up front and honest. And not particularly destructive. Stalls at Wills suffer more from use than willful destruction. Georgia is one of the most competitive equestrian regions in the country with many of its riders coming from the Alpharetta area. Many of them started their showing careers at Wills Park and many continue to show there. It would be a devastating loss for the horse community if Wills Park were to close. The citizens of Alpharetta and the surrounding region ARE using this facility! Additionally, many shows bring in out-of-towners who spend $$ in our hotels, restaurants and shops. Please reconsider closure - research ways of providing income with other events and of keeping costs down.
