Radio System

Just because other cities failed to do their due diligence doesn't mean Johns Creek doesn't have to. Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta and Milton have been drinking the Motorola Coolaid from Commdex, the Consultant/Motorola re-seller. There is an RFP on the street currently for a P25 radio system for the whole of Fulton County, so you taxpayers in Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta and Milton will be paying for 2 systems, by the way guess what manufacturer is specified? If you guessed Motorola you win (or lose), you'll be paying twice to your partners at Motorola. If this has been an painstaking two years of investigation, where is the proof Mayor Woods? Motorola was the only manufacturer invited to this 2-year investigation. P25 is an OPEN standard, not owned or exclusively offered by Motorola, but they would like you to believe that. It's time to admit that the system they used to choose a radio system was done in private, with Motorola. 15.7 Million Dollars, PLEASE. Remember that MOTOROLA number when this system turns into a 25 million dollar system and we, the taxpayers, are victims of these politicians falling all over them selves to give Motorola their tribute.
