Why the Delay in the Scott Pruitt Case?
July 06, 2008 | 11:40 PM
I am writing regarding the pending charges on Mr. Scott Pruitt, the gentleman running for Forsyth County sheriff.
It is my understanding that the county still has not brought any indictment against this man, while he runs for sheriff of Forsyth County.
I have concerns about this issue, as he is running for public office and in addition, has a child in the home. It is my understanding also that it has been well over a year since this gentleman was arrested. In addition, Scott Pruitt is running for public office.
There is a child in that home and as a citizen in this county, I believe I can voice my concerns because if there is some sort of predatory person in the home, the charges need to be brought, one way or another.
How can a county wait so very long on possible criminal charges of such a serious and sensitive nature when there is a child in the home? I hope citizens consider that the county should bring the indictment or drop the indictment, whatever is the correct and just way; and that District Attorney Penny Penn keeps in mind that a child resides in the home of Scott Pruitt.
There is really no excuse for pending charges of such a possible serious and sensitive nature to be dragging on this long.
I do not think it is right for the citizens of the county and most especially not right for the child that resides in Mr. Pruitt's Home.

Still no answers July 12, 2008 | 06:04 PM
I tried to get answers from the DA's office, but they didn't have the common courtesy to return my calls or return my emails. Something tells me that they don't have a whole lot on Mr. Pruitt, or they would have prosecuted by now, at least you would think so becuase they are supposed to protect and serve the citizens and protect and serve the kid in the home. I am just wondering how many other cases are held up in this manner......because of politics. Shame, isn't it. I hope people keep in mind this office is run by taxpayer dollars too...but it makes one wonder.....kind of makes me go hmmmmmmm.

The DA office, and Sheriff's Dept of any county is supposed to protect and serve the people. This is June 11th. Scott Pruitt was arrested in May of 2007 and is running for Sheriff.. The Election is Tuesday June 15th and there has not been any indictment whatsoever. What the heck is taking so long??? The people deserve better.

Still no response back from the District Attorney's office. Forsyth Herald, can you find out what is going on? What is the status of this case? Inquiring minds want to know....and have a fair election too!

Today is July 8, 2008. As of yet, I have not received any answers from anyone on this issue. Will the Herald do a follow up story. The people are just hearing the sound of crickets and we have an election going on . Advanced voting has already begun. What if this turns into a run-off? Then will the DA and the FCSO leadership wait some more? The crickets are just getting louder. No answers. And to the webmaster -- I do not know why the comments are posting more than once.

Isn't it high time we hold our elected officials accountable to the people? If there are stall tactics taking place to hold up this indictmentt, because of 'politics' I believe we have a problem. Please consider contacting District Attorney Penny Penn of Forsyth County. Here is the link with contact info:

| | Ineffective Local Government July 07, 2008 | 12:47 PM
To Shelby.....you eloquently point out the problem. But where is the solution. The local Government entities in Forsyth County are dysfunctional in my opinion. I suppose I have to qualify my statements as opinions. We can't play politics with the life of a child, and it appears to be so (in my opinion), in the Scott Pruitt Case. People, this is a kid we are talking about, and if the evidence is so God-Awful, why are the local entities NOT PROTECTING this child?? The silence is deafening. When you Write to Ms. Penn's office, you get nothing. I have written not once, but a couple of time on what I believe to be a very important issue.

What if Pruitt wins the primary? What then? Or if there is a run off? I guess the word is after the run off, or is it after his term? When??

If there is so much evidence why should it matter how it looks to the public in the election? You have a child that day by day wonders what will happen next I am sure. How can the system turn their back and look the other way because of an election? If no charges are going to be brought then drop it, if the procecution feels like they can move forward then go. I thought we all we suppose to protect the children no matter what the cost. Looks like Forsyth County (Ted Paxton, Penny Penn, DEFACS) turned their back on this little girl. Now a year later if they decide to pick it up and investigate and show interest that will be the icing on the cake.

Well, if that is the case, I believe that is plain wrong. After all, if the man has a pending charge/indictment, for what purpose is it to wait? If a person is suspected or has been arrested regarding charges that are that sensitive and serious, why are they NOT protecting the child and/or the citizens of the county. I have written my concerns directly to Ms. Penny Penn and as of yet have not received an answer. I would urge all citizens and the Forsyth Herald to please cover the story, because the citizens deserve answers, and not 'politics' as usual in this County. I urge others to drop a letter to Ms. Penny Penn, the District Attorney of Forsyth County and ask what the hold up really is.

He'll be indicted after the July 15th primary. Evidently since Paxton's competition last time was indicted as well, the powers that be don't want to have it appear that if you run against him you'll be indicted. Depsite the mountains of evidence otherwise.
