Upset with recent Forsyth County vote
June 20, 2008 | 11:42 AM
I have recently learned of the shameful vote by Commissioners Brian Tam and Linda Ledbetter to not reappoint Mike Busse to the tax assessor's board. In the recent work session, this passed 4-1, with Brian Tam voting against, but in a predictable "politics as usual in Forsyth County" stunt Commissioner Tam convinced Commissioner Ledbetter to reverse her vote and Commissioner Laughinghouse not present, there was no majority, and therefore no reappointment.
This type of action interferes with county business, since our current tax assessors board now only has 4 members, one of whom has not gone through state required training, leaving only 3 qualified board members, making a failure to achieve quorum that much more likely. This is bad business given the assessment issues before the county at this time, and these two commissioners need to understand that this type of political manipulation is going to be a thing of the past.
As a commissioner, I will not put petty politics before getting the business of the county done, as has Commissioners Tam and Ledbetter.
