POLITICS Sound off about politics, law and the government.
Palin laughs when opponent is described as a "cancer" Knowing well that opponent is a cancer survivor
September 02, 2008 | 10:32 AM Category: GOVERNMENT
Early this year, an op-ed in the Anchorage Daily News ripped into Gov. Sarah Palin's appearance on a morning "shock jock" radio show as "plain and simple one of the most unprofessional, childish and inexcusable performances I've ever seen from a politician."
So what happened? Palin has repeatedly feuded with the state's Senate president, Lyda Green, over a wide range of legislation. Last January, Palin appeared on "The Bob and Mark Show," whose host Bob Lester despises Green. That's when the trouble started:
Early on in the conversation before Palin started to crack up, Lester referred to Sen. Green as a jealous woman and a cancer. Palin, who knows full well Lyda Green is a cancer survivor, didn't do what any decent person would do, say, "Bob, that's going too far."
But as the conversation moved on, Lester intensified his attack on Green.
Lester questioned Green's motherhood, asking Palin if the senator cares about her own kids. Palin laughs.
Then Lester clearly sets the stage for what he is about to say by warning his large audience and Palin. He says, "Governor you can't say this but I will, Lyda Green is a cancer and a b----." Palin laughs for the second time.
What were teenage boys thinking when they heard the governor laugh at someone being called a b----? How about the teenage girls who look up to Palin. What did they think when they heard her laugh?
But there is more. Lester then describes Green's chair as big and cushy. A clear reference to the senator's weight. Palin laughs a third time.
Listen for yourself.

My Bible and My Guns... September 04, 2008 | 02:06 PM
I have said it before, and I will say it again. Obama or McCain? Not much choice here. They are just different sides of the same evil coin. Obama the community organizer for president? Or a hockey mom with a knocked up daughter for vice president? Hummm, which shall I choose? I can't find anywhere in the U.S. Constitution where the government is required to provide us healthcare, financial bailouts,or low gas prices. Our national debt is over 9 trillion dollars! It will be over 10 trillion dollars after the Fanny - Freddy bailout. The dollar is almost worthless, banks are going under, inflation is back to stay, food is the highest in decades, and all my neighbor cares about is the size of his gas grill, and his leased BMW. Wake up people! Turn off American Idol! Put down People magazine, and look at what's happening to our country! Now with that said, I'm going back to my living room and cling to my bible, and my guns.

Palin is McCain's big mistake September 03, 2008 | 09:58 PM
It is hard to take McCain seriously after making Palin his running mate. When you look around at the number of women so so much more qualified and capable - such as Carly Fiona (formerly of HP) - one can only conclude that her choice was for one and one reason alone - to patronize the religions nuts and conservative one-issue wack-o's. Instead of selecting a running mate who realistically could take over as President in the event that something happened to him, McCain has nominated someone with close to zero qualifications to be president. A truely amazing move. What can he have been thinking?
You want someone who was the mayor of a tiny city for a couple years and then govenor of Alaska for another couple potentially directing your armed forces and the rest of the country?

This is so typical of you Alpharetta Blue. As most democrats and liberals as well as the media have been bashing Palin because she is actually a threat to you and your campaign. Instead of blaming the man who actually said these rediculous remarks you blame the person who maybe laughed out of surprise or lack of what to say to something so cruel. She didnt say the remarks did she? Then why not focus the blame on the jerk that did. I just cant believe the lengths the democrats will go to when they are up against the wall. I know for me my thoughts are with her and my support gets stronger everytime I hear the bashing of this women for her ability to actually win. I especially get upset when I hear the media say things like her husband had a DUI in 86 when at that time OBAMA HAS ADMITTED TO DOING COCAINE > YEAH HE SHOULD RUN MY COUNTRY> Denise, Alpharetta
