Taxes are up!
October 16, 2009 | 07:53 PM I just received my tax bill and my property taxes are up by $200. That is $200 I will cut back on spending at Johns Creek businesses this year.

Wrong: It is not the state--it is the county and cities November 12, 2009 | 10:28 AM
The state did not raise your Fulton Co or John's Creek taxes. They simply removed the subsidy they were giving the counties and, which the counties and cities then used to reduce taxes. All of the "increase" is still going to the cities and counties. Unless the cities and counties reduced their millage rate to correspond to the reduced state subsidy to them, they, in fact, raised taxes.

Maybe we need some Federal control and regulations. My coverage goes down and every year my premiums go up.

Just wait til we all get forced into socialist federal health care, wonder who gets to pay for all of that? You do, the hard working tax payer, not the millions of lazy ass big lipped porch monkeys who sell crack and live off the government every day.
Hows that hope and change working now?

Some of the comments show just how ignorant people are. The increase was from the STATE OF GEORGIA. Neither Fulton County or Johns Creek raised any taxes.
By the way the biggest improvement has been the formation of the police department. Fulton County PD was undermanned and NEVER patrolled their neighborhoods. JCPD is very proactive and they have a lot of good detectives actually solving the crimes that occur.

I received a temporary tax bill based on 85% of assessed value. The letter says "Your homestead excemption value is being reviewed for correctness". It seems I will get a final bill later.
Anyone with same situation?
Thanks...

Increase of over 10% October 20, 2009 | 03:45 PM
I would have considered myself lucky of my taxes were up only $200! Mine went up over 10%. How is this possible when values are down, and the house next door has been in foreclosure and vacant for over 10 months ?

Thanks State if Georgia for 'minding the store'- not! October 17, 2009 | 04:36 PM
Who is 'minding the store' for us? No one.

The increase has nothing to do with Johns Creek October 17, 2009 | 03:49 PM
The tax increase had nothing to do with Johns Creek. Look at your bill and you will see the Johns Creek millage rate is unchanged. It's not Fulton County either.
The increase was statewide and comes from the failure of the state to renew a particular property tax exemption grant this year due to the bad economy. It would have been nice if Fulton Co had included that information with the bills.
