Forsyth's hand for small businesses
|
December 31, 2008 FORSYTH COUNTY – Local small businesses have added a great asset this year. The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce started their Small Business Development Center's (SBSC) Business Accelerator on McGinnis Ferry Road earlier in 2008.
Chamber president and CEO James McCoy said it's been an "important outpost" for the chamber in South Forsyth.
"We have someone now that does nothing but think of how to help businesses succeed," he said. "What they try to do is discover what a businesses weakness is and then provide the resources to help with that."
Those weaknesses could be a shortage of office space or accounting help, both of which the SBSC would help the small business find.
"I think this has been a significant accomplishment this year," McCoy said.
The SBSC is a partnership with the Chamber, the Small Business Development Center of the University of Georgia, Lanier Technical College and North Georgia College and State University.
