Gwinnett Chamber hosts China Home Appliance Association
December 23, 2008
Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development, in partnership with Hisense USA Corporation, hosted the China Home Appliance Association and its president, Madam Huo Dufang for a luncheon featuring addresses from Georgia and Gwinnett economists, Dr. Kenneth Heaghney and Dr. Alfie Meek, respectively. The event, designed to foster international relations, aligns directly with both Gwinnett and the State of Georgia's strategy to advance global business development in the coming year.

The China Home Appliance Association, representing several Chinese appliance manufacturers and distributors, is meeting with U.S. community leaders in which its membership has a significant presence. Hisense USA Corp., a subsidiary of Hisense Company Limited - one of China's top 10 electronic manufacturers, helped orchestrate today's events between Gwinnett leaders and the Chinese delegation. The company maintains a strong North American headquarter office presence in Gwinnett County, partnering with the community for future business and economic growth.

Madam Huo Dufang provided a bit of insight as to the delegation's vision for international business between China and the State of Georgia.

"The China Home Appliance Association recognizes the importance of Hisense USA Corp. to its global footprint in the United States," said Madam Huo. "Meeting with economic development representatives in Gwinnett and Georgia helps us to better understand the opportunities available for Chinese and US business development."

Representing Georgia, Heidi Green, deputy commissioner for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, explained the significance of this international relationship to the future of Georgia's business climate.

"Georgia continually seeks opportunities to expand its footprint in international business," said Green. "With the department's new office in Beijing and the relationships being cultivated here today with Madam Huo and the China Home Appliance Association, Georgia is making significant strides toward international economic growth."

Nick Masino, vice president of economic development and Partnership Gwinnett at the Gwinnett Chamber, discussed briefly the growing partnerships between both China and the State of Georgia in relation to Gwinnett's goals for international business development.

"Gwinnett has a mission for growing international business relations with key partners already existing in its community," saidMasino. "Hisense USA has been a tremendous asset to our international business development initiatives and we look ahead to strong business growth between Gwinnett, the State of Georgia and China."

The event concluded with a formal exchange of gifts between Chinese, Georgian and Gwinnett representatives. The Chinese delegation will finish their business development trip to the United States with a presence at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV. This show, representing over 2,000 consumer appliance companies and suppliers, provides a unique platform for business information exchange and idea sharing. Representatives from the State and Gwinnett County will also be in attendance as Hisense USA Corp. guests.
