December 23, 2008 The Atlanta Freedom Cup 2009 Peewee Hockey Festival will take place at Alpharetta's Cooler Family Skate Center in mid-January, and with it will come hotel bookings for Alpharetta hotels.
Games will be played at The Cooler on Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18, with playoffs & championships on Monday, Jan. 19. The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau coordinated with The Cooler and The Cooler's nine partner hotels to book the out-of-town teams in Alpharetta hotels.
Tournament Director Gina Bennett said, "The event will bring together 14 teams from Florida, the Carolinas, Tennessee, as well as Atlanta, and will showcase twelve-year-old hockey in the Southeast."
The Cooler's 85 feet by 200 feet ice arenas and one 85 feet by 185 feet roller arena provide hours of family fun and are also popular for tournaments.
