December 05, 2008 Alpharetta Arboretum, Inc. invites the public to attend a grand opening ceremony for its newest arboretum Saturday, Dec.13 at 9:30 a.m. at Cogburn Road Park.
The ceremony will include the dedication of a memorial tree in the member of Dr. John Moskaluk, who served as Director of Alpharett'a Engineering and Public Works Department for many years.
The Alpharetta Arboretum at Cogburn Road Park will be the city's second arboretum; the Alpharetta Arboretum at Wills Park opened on Sept. 27.
Alpharetta Mayor Arthur Letchas will open the ceremony, followed by comments from Julie Hogg, President of Alpharetta Arboretum, Inc. Letchas will also dedicate the memorial tree.
The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) partnered with Alpharetta Arboretum, Inc., purchasing the markers for the seven trees which make up the arboretum. Colorful brochures for both arboretums, produced by the Alpharetta CVB, are available complimentary at the Downtown Alpharetta Welcome Center, for residents and visitors to enjoy a self-guided tour of these outdoor living museums.
