(click for larger version) | | December 03, 2008 This holiday season will be upon us before we know it, and the downtown merchants in Alpharetta have been busy planning an evening of open houses to kick off the city's holiday festivities.
On Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5-8 p.m. many of the shops and restaurants will be decorated and open late while serving refreshments and offering evening specials. Kathy An Kessler from GALERIE boutique on Main Street has teamed up with Donna Fallis of Hopewell Middle School to bring the eighth-grade chorus and the music of holidays to Alpharetta for the night.
GALERIE boutique and several other businesses from the Downtown Alpharetta Trade Association (DATA), such as Mainstreet Art Co., The Cannery, Slice Cafe, Ivy Interiors, Southern Comforts, Borrellis Salon, Couture Consigner and Twigs and Lace, will be giving a percent of the evenings sales or making donations to the chorus to assist the middle school group in raising money for an exciting trip to sing onstage at Disney World in Orlando in March for "Magic Music Days."
March has been designated as National "Music in our Schools" Month to support the arts and music programs in schools across the country. The students will be caroling between the supporting shops while assisting in escorting shoppers from store to store and even helping wrap gifts if needed. This is the perfect opportunity to show your support to your neighborhood businesses and local students while enjoying the festivities. The shops and students invite their friends in their community to join them for this fun event.
