November 25, 2008 FORSYTH COUNTY - A 27-year-old man was killed early Nov. 25 when his car crashed head on with a Forsyth County School bus on Ga. 369 in north Forsyth County.
According to Ron Tomblin, Traffic Specialist with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the victim has been identified as Brian M. Walker of Heatherwyn Way in Cumming.
No students were on the bus at the time, said Jennifer Caracciolo, a spokeswoman with the Forsyth County Schools.
"The bus had just dropped off students at Little Mill Middle School," she said. "We were lucky."
According to Tomblin, Walker was headed east on Brown's Bridge Road about 8:40 a.m. in his 1999 Toyota Camry when it crossed the road just east of Six Mile Bridge and was hit head-on by the west-bound school bus. Walker, who was alone in the car, died instantly.
The 43-year-old bus driver was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was treated and released for minor injuries, said investigators.
Caracciolo said the school system has towed the bus back to its lot and is conducting the investigation. The bus driver was interviewed and was not found to be at fault, she said.
An investigation is being conducted in an attempt to determine what caused Walker to lose control of his car, said Frank Huggins, a spokesman with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
