The recent gas shortage brought on by a combination of hurricanes knocking out refineries and metro Atlanta's "special" fuel that just wasn't being produced didn't hurt Brooklyn Joe's business, because its owner picked the right location.
Brian Miller saw the Super Target shopping center being built on Ga. 9 between Windward and Deerfield parkways in Milton and decided that would be a perfect location for his latest restaurant concept. Customers kept coming back, and more started visiting after its Sept. 22 opening. But he knew he had a winner when he saw local residents walking from the surrounding communities at a time many of us worried about running out of gas.
Being near a Staple's, Kohls and Super Target didn't hurt, either.
He didn't even start his plans for the new concept of Brooklyn Joe's Pizza, Pasta & Grill until February, a short time in the business world. The former owner of four Allesio's restaurants sold the stores and licensed the concept before developing his next venture.
"I actually developed the concept to fit the location," he said.
Brooklyn Joe's offers dine in, take out, deliver and catering. Menu items include salads, wings, paninis, heros, pasta, pizza and desserts. It is at 13065 Ga. 9, Milton.
