October 30, 2008 ALPHARETTA - Alpharetta police arrested a 27-year-old woman Oct. 27 on charges she allegedly shot her boyfriend in the chest with a 9mm pistol at their home on Crestwood Court.
The boyfriend was taken to Grady Hospital, where he remains. The suspect, Deidra L. Anderson, is in Fulton County Jail without bond, charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Two three-year-old children, a boy and a girl, in the home at the time of the shooting were taken by family members, said Officer Jennifer Howard, a spokeswoman for the Alpharetta Police Department.
Howard said police got the call about a shooting at 11:30 a.m. in the couple's home off Webb Bridge Road.
"When she called, the caller said she'd shot her boyfriend," she said.
Officers arrived and found the boyfriend in an upstairs bedroom, bleeding from his chest and having trouble breathing. The 9mm pistol was found in a tree trunk behind the home, said Howard.
"The two people involved had an argument that escalated into violence," said Howard. "Ultimately someone got shot."
Howard said Anderson confessed repeatedly while in custody.
