DULUTH - Move over Jonas Brothers - there's a new sibling musical act making its name known. The Oswald Brothers - Zach, Jacob, Nich and their friend Zack Bennett – have been playing music since they were practically out of diapers.

As kids, the Duluth residents got their start banging to the beat of a different kind of drum - kitchen pots and pans.

Now, after years of piano lessons and practicing guitar and drums, the brothers are performing in churches, schools and parks. Their biggest venue to date was Faith Fest in Winder.

"I like playing the big stage," said Nich, who plays drums. "We like people to get involved and sing and dance."

"It's a lot harder than I thought it would be," said Jacob, who plays guitar. "It takes a lot of talent and we have to focus. But once I get up there, the bigger the crowd the better."

Nich said the more they're on stage, the easier it is to perform in front of large groups of people.

"I think it's tons of fun," said Zack Bennett, who joined the band in September. "I like interacting with the audience." He plays bass in the group.

The brothers described their music as a good mixture of Christian rock and pop. They named musicians like Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix and Chris Tomlin and God as influences for their music.

The group is in the process of recording a CD that is expected to be released by the New Year.

Twelve songs are on the album - all written by the Oswald Brothers. Zach, who is the lead singer, said songs like "Fill Me" and "To the Cross" are about God.

"Zach will pop a song out in a week or so," said Jacob. "Sometimes it takes a little longer."

Like most teenagers, they're busy managing their time between school, friendships and concerts at Lilburn First Baptist Church every week.

Pam Oswald, Zach, Jacob and Nich's mother, said it's all a juggling act. "They've all managed to keep it together," said Pam. "I'm incredibly proud of them. A lot of kids start out and it's just fun but they've spent hours and hours perfecting everything. They're patient - I think that's what is amazing."

Jacob said he credits his parents' help and support for the band's success.

"They're the reason that we've made it," said Zach.

While the Oswald Brothers' parents don't have a musical background, they did insist that their sons take piano lessons while growing up.

"I know they're thankful now for taking piano lessons," said Pam. Zach trained under world renowned pianist Piotr Folkert.

The Oswald Brothers said they have been a little inspired by the popular Jonas Brothers.

"They're popular, so everyone really responds to their music," said Zach. "We put a little more of a pop feel into our music."

The group said they are trying to make a music video.
