• Michael P. Conaway, a 2001 graduate of Milton HS, was recently promoted to sergeant by the U.S. Marine Corps. He is a member of the HMLA-267 Marines Airframes Division, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), 3rd Marines, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Conaway is the son of Gail and Phil Connell of Milton.
• Army Reserve Spec. Michael D. Kuca participated in the 2008 Best Warrior Competition, a seven-event contest designed to test soldiers' physical and combat skills. Kuca, a civil affairs specialist, is a member of the 322nd Civil Affairs Brigade based at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
He is a 1993 graduate of Milton HS, a 1995 graduate of Young Harris College and a 1997 graduate of Western Carolina University.
• Air Force Airman Sean B. O'Connor has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Denise Auger of Duluth and Jim O'Connor of Alpharetta. He is a 2005 graduate of The Cottage School in Roswell.
• Air Force Airman Brian A. Downer has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Downer is the son of Rick and Sue Downer of Alpharetta, and a 2006 graduate of Chattahoochee HS.
• Air Force Airman Daniel J. Pepper has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Rosemary and Gregg Pepper of Alpharetta, and a 2003 graduate of Milton HS.
