FULTON COUNTY - A number of North Fulton schools were among the select institutions in the state to receive the Superintendent's Distinguished Achievement Awards, which recognize their students' scores on statewide tests.
State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox recently announced the winners of the inaugural award, which went to the top 10 schools that had the highest achievement or greatest improvement on state curriculum tests. The tests included the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT), the Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT) and the End-of-Course-Tests (EOCT).
The awards were presented in two categories: Improvement - The 10 schools in each core subject area and grade with the greatest improvement in the percentage of students meeting or exceeding standards; and Achievement - The 10 schools in each core subject area and grade with the highest percentage of students who scored in the "exceeds standards" category.
North Fulton schools all received awards based on achievement, with a number receiving multiple honors, including: Summit Hill, Crabapple Crossing and Shakerag elementary schools; Webb Bridge, River Trail and Fulton Science Academy middle schools; and Milton, Chattahoochee and Northview high schools.
