FULTON COUNTY - The Fulton County Green Team is still hard at work trying to find more environment-friendly ways of running the county.
The team, which was established following the adoption of a September 2007 resolution by Fulton County Commissioner Emma Darnell, presented the Fulton County Board of Commissioners with information and recommendations regarding the county's water and energy conservation at the Sept. 17 meeting. The recommendations included using more water efficient landscaping and switching to automatic flush - or low water use - toilets and restroom fixtures where applicable.
They are also exploring the use of ozone injection at the jail's laundry to eliminate the use of hot water completely from laundry operations.
To fall in line with its own message of conservation, commissioners approved the team's prior proposal for rebates for county water and sewer customers who purchase low water use toilets in February 2008.
The team provides quarterly updates to the commission on the progress of water and energy conservation measures.
