"Experiencing God, The Musical" will be presented at Alpharetta First United Methodist church on Wednesday Oct.15 at 7 p.m. The musical, including both contemporary and traditional songs, will be performed by an array of soloists, accompanied by the church orchestra and a 75-plus voice choir, all directed by Barbara Holbrook. Admission is free.
"Although the music is beautiful and inspiring, the dramatic message will move every person in the audience," said Holbrook. "This is a very ambitious project for our music ministry, but we are confident that the amazing talent in the church will offer a truly memorable performance."
The musical is based on the book, "Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing his Will" by Henry Blackaby and Claude King. It is built around what the authors call the "Seven Realities of Experiencing God."
Those realities are: God is always at work and around you. God pursues a continuing love relationship with you. God invites you to become involved with him in his work. God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer and the church. God's invitation for you to work with him always leads to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action. You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what he's doing. And finally, you come to know God by experience as you obey him, and he accomplishes his work through you.
Alpharetta First United Methodist Church is at 69 Main Street, one block north of the Alpharetta city center. More information is available from the church office at 770-475-5576.
